Simplify Your B-BBEE Compliance: Use an EME Affidavit for Businesses with Turnover Below R10 Million

Did you know that as an Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME), which means you have an annual turnover of R10 million and below, you can use an Affidavit to verify their B-BBEE status without needing a formal B-BBEE certificate.

How to Obtain an EME Affidavit:

  • Affidavit Template: The affidavit must be completed on the prescribed template available from the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) or through accredited B-BBEE verification agencies.
  • Notarisation: The affidavit needs to be sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths, such as a lawyer, police officer, or court official.

The EME Affidavit is often used in lieu of a formal B-BBEE certificate, but it must be renewed periodically (usually annually) to remain valid.
